Q: What day and time is my recycling picked up?

Answer:

Monday - Thursday: Residential accounts starting at 10 A.M.*

*Pick up times may vary from week to week depending on substitute drivers, weather conditions, traffic, or route changes. Some rural areas are collected later, therefore it's important to keep your recycling out so the driver does not miss your bin. Your pick up schedule will be sent to you in your welcome email.

*All schedules are subject to change, we will notify you if your area is affected one week prior to change.

Q: Do I need to sort the recycling?

Answer:

Yes and No. ALL GLASS should be bagged separately from all other materials. The rest of your "clean" materials do not require sorting. Use the appropriate bags for the weather and try not to over fill. Try to keep the bags at 25 lbs maximum weight for our drivers safety. Break down all cardboard boxes, large cardboard can be placed next to the bin.

*please DO NOT include electronic devices, batteries or containers that held hazardous materials in your bags. If you think they could be recycled or re-used, set them aside in a dry location and contact us by email to schedule pick up with our driver. Q: What can I recycle with Eco Haus?

Answer:

• Glass (including unbroken clear, green, blue and brown glass containers of all shapes and sizes, wine, soda bottles)

*ALL GLASS should be in its own bag.

*please do not put mirrors, ceramics or light bulbs in with your materials. Light bulbs are considered universal waste and may contain mercury which is hazardous to humans and animals. https://www.epa.gov/hw/universal-waste

• Paper, cardboard (including office paper, paper bags, soft cover books, phone books, notebooks, envelopes, construction paper, cake mix, cereal and shoe boxes, corrugated cardboard) 
• Ferrous and non-ferrous metals (including clean aluminium cans and aluminium foil, pie plates, cat food containers, beer, soda, soup and tin cans)
• Plastic* (including water and soda bottles, yogurt containers, laundry detergent bottles, disposable cups, shampoo bottles, and milk jugs)

*we can accept most plastics #1, #2, #4, and #5. NO Styrofoam #6, PVC #3, plastic hangers, plastic wrap and plastic grocery bags.

Q: do you recycle electronics?

Answer:

yes, we do accept electronic devices for recycling for a small fee. Electronics must be kept separate from all other materials and kept dry. CRT type displays have a total additional cost of $21 and a size limit of 20". Contact us before pick up day to schedule. Appliances are not accepted at this time.

Q: How does your billing work?

Answer:

We process our invoices on the 15th of each month. Payment is due upon receipt, in some cases commercial accounts can be billed NET30. We do have several flexible billing options, you may pay your subscription by the month, quarter, twice a year, or annually. Payments can made online with your credit/debit card or bank account. We also accept checks mailed to us or given to the driver, your driver can also process credit card payments.

*Subscriptions that go unpaid past 10 days are subject to service disruption. Subscriptions past due 30 days will be suspended. New subscriptions must be paid in full before the first pick up.

Q: Do you provide a recycling bin?

Answer:

Yes. 1 bin per customer.

Commercial bins are property of the collective.

Q: What do you do with the materials you collect?

Answer:

We currently sort some materials like electronics, cardboard and metal at our location. These materials will get directly converted to new products by us or sold as commodity. The remaining materials are taken to a sorting facility in Athens or Hall County where they are sorted for type and sold as recyclable materials for various manufacturers.
